Vietnam-Brazil trade turnover maintains fair growth

altTwo-way trade between Vietnam and Brazil maintained fair growth in 2012 with a turnover of nearly 1.64 billion USD, an increase of 13.8 percent from 2011, according to statistics released by Brazil ’s Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade on February 21.

In 2012, Vietnam earned 817.2 million USD from exports to Brazil , up 26.3 percent from 2011, and imported 822.6 million USD worth of commodities from the country, a year-on-year increase of 3.6 percent.

Vietnam exports footwear, fish fillets, printers, chipsets and rubber to the Latin America ’s largest economy while importing soybean products, cotton, tobacco, corn and timber.

The trade recorded the positive development despite 5.26 percent and 1.37 percent decreases in Brazil’s 2012 total export and import values (242.58 billion and 223.15 billion USD), respectively, due to impact of the global financial crisis.

It has seen constant growth since 2000, in particular the first-ever turnover of more than 1 billion USD in 2011, statistics showed.-VNA
